Pancha Lingam of Lord Shiva and their importance

There are five principles by which the human body is composed. Earth, water, fire, air, sky. Similarly in South India Lord Shiva has five lingams which nourish these five Tattvas. In South India these five places are called Panchabhuta Sthalam.

Each linga is named based on the element represented by Pancha Tatva. Surprisingly, all these 5 temples are located at 78 – 79° E longitude, with very little difference.

The temples are located in South India. Four are located in Tamil Nadu and one in Andhra Pradesh. Everything in Brambhanda comes from Panchatattva and disappears from Panchatattva. Our body is made up of these five elements. If you can control the five principles smoothly, they will surely make you successful in all areas of life.

By the grace of Devadeva Mahadev, by the grace of my Guru, I had the good fortune to visit the lingams of these five temples and to sit and meditate in the garbha griha of those temples.

If you visit the lingam of these five temples, then surely your Panchattva will be purified due to the divine energy of that temple. Due to the control over your Pancha Tattva, you are sure to be successful in all fields.

Those who can afford it should definitely visit this pancha linga i.e. Panchabhuta Sthalam of South India.

What is the legend of Jambukeshwar temple?

Devotees believe that once, Goddess Parvati made fun of Lord Shiva’s penance for the betterment and welfare of the world. So, Shiva asked him to go to Earth from Kailasa (abode of Shiva) to perform penance.

As per Shiva’s wish, Parvati got the Jambu forest (Tiruvanaikoel) to perform her penance as Akilandeshwari. So, he made a linga from the water of river Kaveri under the ven nobal tree (the ven nobal tree above Sant Jambu) and started worshiping him. Hence, the lingam is known as Appu Lingam (water lingam). Shiva finally gave darshan to Akilandeswari and taught her the wisdom of Shiva.

The presiding deity of Jambukeshwar temple is Jambukeshwar, which represents the element of water. That is Lord Shiva is installed here as Jal Lingam. Lord Shiva is a student here in the form of Guru Ma Parvati Akilandeshwari.

For the gods it was a momentary event, but as a result light was removed from the entire universe and the earth was plunged into darkness for many years. Parvati then took penance with other devotees of Shiva. Then Shiva appeared in the Arunachal Hills in the form of a huge pillar of fire and restored the light to the world. He then entered Parvati’s body and assumed the form of Ardhanarishwar (half Shiva, half Parvati). This is how the Arunachal hill behind the Arunachaleshwar temple is divinely associated with the temple. The entire hill is considered sacred in the knowledge of a Shiva Linga.
